Golf has been played over the links at Gullane for more than 350 years. Today, Gullane Golf Club is one of Scotland’s most prestigious member clubs, mixing the finest tradition with some of the most admired natural links land in the world.
Gullane is blessed with superb turf and a climate that allows all year round golf. No.1 has hosted over 40 championships, most recently the Scottish Amateur Championship in 2025. Rickie Fowler won the Scottish Open here in 2015. Gullane No.1 starts in Gullane Village and heads to the top of Gullane Hill, where 125 holes of links golf can viewed.
The designer of No.1 has been lost in time, although some golf historians often credit Willie Park Sr. From seven holes in 1840, to 15 in 1878, the now 18-hole course has evolved to become one of the best links courses in Scotland. Consistently high in the golf course rankings, the challenge of the course is the elevation change, subtle undulations and fast running fairways.
