Formed in 1832 The North Berwick Golf Club at the West Links is one of the most historic in Scotland. Golf has been played over the same piece of land since well before the club was formed, only the R&A has played over the same piece of land for longer.
A classic seaside links course with stunning views of the Firth of Forth, it is a fair and challenging test of golf for all players. It is a true championship course having hosted many events over the years, including Final Qualifying for The Open on six occasions, The British Ladies Amateur Championship in 2008, The Amateur Championship in 2010 and the inaugural 2015 Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open Pre-Qualifier.
Playing the course is all about imagination, with the sea in play on six holes. Together with hazard walls in the middle of fairways and in front of a green, the West links is a fun and sometimes non-conformist course . All of the hazards add to the joy of playing the West Links, and are an important part of the club’s history charting the development of the course.
Numerouns legendary golfers and golf course architects, including Old Tom Morris have had a hand in the West Links’ design. Gil Hanse is currently overseeing restoration and coastal erosion mitigation.
