Golf has been played over the links at Gullane for more than 350 years. Today, Gullane Golf Club is one of Scotland’s most prestigious member clubs, mixing the finest tradition with some of the most admired natural links land in the world.
Gullane is blessed with superb turf and a climate that allows all year round golf. Gullane No.2 was designed in 1898 by Willie Park Jnr. who was Open Champion in 1885 and 1887. The second of Gullane’s three courses to be created, it is no less challenging than No.1. Slightly shorter in length, with larger greens, No.2 still has the all the tests expected of a links classic.
The undulation change and fast running fairways offer many challenges, as the elements make front and back nines very different. The 7th and 8th holes of No.2 formed part of the composite course for the 2015 Scottish Open, with bunkers creatively positioned to have the best golfers thinking carefully.
The Aberlady Loop, holes 11, 12, and 13 offer a sense of isolation, together with stunning views of the dunes, and across the Forth to Edinburgh.
