Golf has been played over the links at Gullane for more than 350 years. Today, Gullane Golf Club is one of Scotland’s most prestigious member clubs, mixing the finest tradition with some of the most admired natural links land in the world.
Gullane is blessed with superb turf and a climate that allows all year round golf. No.3 is the most recent, and shortest of the three courses. That is not to say it is a lesser course, it certainly isn’t. Designed by the members in 1910, the course is known as Gullane’s Gem. The Course Manager believes that the green complexes are the best at Gullane, but it’s not only around the greens where the challenges lie.
Precision off the tee is the test, whilst the holes are designed to be fun, and creative. Like all three courses, No.3 starts in the ‘village’. No.3 has the most number of holes Gullane-side of Gullane Hill., but as with No.1 and No.2, there is a climb to the top of the hill;, before the course opens out in front of the golfer.
The 360-degree views across Aberlady Bay, to the Lammermuir Hills and the Forth bridges are spectacular. As many have talked about, No.3 is a feel good course, as golf intended. It is also great value for money too, and can easily be played in three hours.
