Located in the grounds of the historic Prestongrange House between Musselburgh and Prestonpans, Royal Musselburgh Golf Club is the 6th oldest club in the world.
The Royal Musselburgh Golf Club is steeped in history, originating at the 9-hole Musselburgh Levenhall links where the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers, Royal Burgess Golfing Society and Bruntsfield Golf Club also played. The club was founded in 1774, with the Old Club Cup dating back to the same year, still the oldest trophy competitively played for in the world. In addition, it is widely believed that the 4.25-inch diameter hole cutter was first used by the Royal Musselburgh Golf Club.
With incredible views over the Forth Estuary to Fife, this parkland gem is always worth a visit. The club prides itself on its presentation, fully respecting how former Open Champion, James Braid designed the course. With mature trees, well-defined fairways, and Braid’s signature, strategic bunkers, Royal Musselburgh is fantastic value for money.
The Coal Industry Social Welfare Organisation owns Prestongrange House, a union established in 1958, whilst the club operates the golf course.
